Joining ASDA provide a number of opportunities to connect with fellow dental students and professionals. The opportunity for volunteering, learning and interacting with industry professionals on all aspects of dentistry.

Lunch n' Learns

Lunch n Learns are a great opportunity for you to explore the new advancements of dentistry and look for mentors + potential places to work after graduating dental school. Come with questions, an empty tummy, and open ears!

Networking Events

D3/D4s are able to connect with industry professionals in private practices, DSOs, gathering advice from associates to doctor-owners. This helps students jumpstart their careers and find the practice that fits their future life and practice-style

Career Advisement

D1 and D2 can receive mentorship through 1-on-1 or group tutoring efforts in SimLab. D3 and D4 will receive advice on demographic and real estate talk, malpractice and disability insurance for future, and resume and contract reviews.

Philanthropy

Participating in events such as clothing drive for Haven for Hope, hygiene bags for the homeless and helping out at the local soup kitchen allow dental students to view the world from a different perspective and provide affordable care in underserved populations.

Leadership

ASDA offers Pre-Dental Day to introduce hand skills, current faculty and students and tour of UTHSCSA. Year-round panels virtually and/or on-campus with schools including UT, Texas A&M, UIW, St. Mary’s, UTSA, and more.

Health and Wellness

Wellness aims to better the lives of our dental students by improving mental, physical and emotional health by hosting events that promote friendship amongst all classes through, i.e. hiking, yoga, two-stepping and more.
